Literacy Fair a Great Success!

From Dottie Kilpatrick , ECW President - A big thank you to everyone at St. Francis for making the Back-to-School Literacy Fair such a big success. We had more children come to listen to the authors read their books than I expected for the first time. We also had a huge number of volunteers there to make the authors and the community feel welcome.
There were eight local authors including Tuffy the All American Hero Quarter Horse. The most talked about writer was Dennis Boyce, illustrator and author of Tittle Tattle at the Zoo. Everyone was impressed with his demonstration on how he develops his illustrations. He was the hit of the fair.
A big thanks to Publix for donating 24 flats of drinking water and the men of St Francis who
provided hot dogs. We have already decided to do it again next year on Saturday by popular demand.

ECW (Episcopal Church Women) - All women of the Episcopal Church are members of ECW. Please join us on the second Wednesday each month. Our next meeting will be Weds. September 8th after the 10 a.m. Eucharist. We will meet and enjoy a potluck lunch and program.

Men's Fellowship Dinners - these are typically held the second Monday of each month. A brief time of prayer in the church at 6 p.m. precedes dinner in the Parish Hall. A collection is taken for the cost of the meal. Sign up in the Parish Hall or just come and join the group. The food is prepared by the men who volunteer for the Men's Supper Team.

Wednesday Evening Supper and Services - the Parish family is invited to meet for dinner at 6 p.m., usually on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Dinner is followed by Holy Eucharist at 7 p.m. and a service of Healing. These are great opportunities for fellowship and worship. The next Wednesday supper is scheduled for September 22nd. Join us!

Card Crafters - 100 hand made greeting cards were created by the Card Crafters of St. Francis and delivered in May to Covenant Hospice for volunteer visitors to take to patients. The cards bear a "Thinking of You" message and a notation that they are from  "Covenant Hospice Volunteers and St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church, Gulf Breeze", indicating a true outreach to the community.

The group meets from 10 a.m. to noon, the first Wednesday of the month and enjoys working together while fulfilling this outreach mission. There are no requirements for joining the group - just come! Even a one-time participation is worthwhile if you cannot make each session. The only requirement is that you passed kindergarten "Cut and Paste" class. Give it a try,
